LOL. ok so it isnt called Nanaimo Island, but Roger and I did visit Dee in Nanaimo last Wednesday for 2 nights. This was my first visit to the second largest city on Vancouver Island. The "Queen of Oak Bay" Ferry was recently refurbished, and had a very modern touch to it. I definitely enjoyed the new look compared to the old stained fabric seats, ugly carpeting, and old smell. The ride was pleasant. Roger and I spent half the time freezing our asses off in the wind on deck. Very pleasant, but cold.
Arrived at Dee's close to 5pm, cleaned up her apartment lol, and enjoyed an amazing home cooked meatloaf from souz-chef Dee =D. Best meatloaf i've ever had!!! I should hire her to be my full time cook... That evening we watched The Departed. Long movie, and very disappointing at the end. It was too anti-climatic. Stupid movie. Wish I never watched it... I'm surprised it won the Oscar!! Anyway, thats just our opinion.... *mutters under breath* stupid movie, waste of time -.-
Moving on. Day 2. Half sunny half cloudy. This was a bonus cuz it allowed for some great scenic photos of Nanaimo Harbour. (photos will be up on my Webshots shortly) Roger and I spend the afternoon walking around the harbour. We ate lunch at a place called Tania`s Tapas Bar and Grill. Nothing spectacular about the food, but it was still good.
tobe continued.

Sounds of Early 2007
EMO
I absolutely can't stand the song "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. If you like it... I'm sorry, but I find it extremely 'emo' and annoying. The guys voice annoys the hell out of me, AND if you listen carefully near the end of the song, it sounds like a 'rock' version of the Broadway musical Les Miserables' "One Day More". They are soo similar! I cant get it out of my head. In addition to this, My Chemical Romance sounds a bit like Sum41, and another band which I cant recall right now. This stupid song is WAY overplayed on the radio, and hella annoying!

LONELY
This song has been stuck in my head for the past couple weeks but I dont mind it at all. The song title is "Anna Molly" by Incubus. Have a listen, and let me know what you think. I love the instruments used (especially in the beginning), and the artists' voice has an artistic feel to it. A lot of skill in my opinion. But what affected me the most was the passion in this song. Everytime I hear it, it brings out my emotions, which in turn, I end up 'karoke-ing' this song everytime its on the radio. Yah maybe I sound cheesy, but who cares right? Still a good song in my eyes :D

STRENGTH
Roger and I watched the movie "Eragon" and we actually enjoyed it even though it received poor ratings. The main theme song for this movie is "Holding On" or something like that by Avril Lavigne. I love the lyrics. Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of the best parts of the movie.

COLOURFUL
zomg! LOL Mika's "Grace Kelly". This song is soo much more gay-er than Scissor Sisters' "I dont feel like dancing" which I like. But this Mika song is just weird!!! You have to listen to it atleast once. LOL Oh, and dont be surprised if this song gets stuck in your head. Its very catchy o.O

myspace & blogs
Who here has a myspace?
I dont expect to get an answer lol. I'm basically talking to myself considering I havnt invited anyone to view this online journal. Well I have a myspace even though I'm against it. I rarely use it, rarely update it, and little do I care about it. Then why do I have one? Just because everyone has one. It must be one of those things that you just get caught up in. Or maybe I just wanted to reserve a spot with my name on it (even though i didnt get what i really wanted). Whatever the case, its still an interesting way for friends to keep in touch when the phone isnt available (I watched my cousin browse thru a gazillion myspace pages). http://www.myspace.com/trunky1
As for blogs, just another form of communication. Same difference. Take for instance right now. At this very moment, I'm bored as hell and just feel like typing.... So here we are. Just another means to share your experiences, personal life, feelings, and all that jazz, online.
I think we're making the phone extinct ;)
You know you're bored when you start talking about blogs on your own blog. -.-

Bar Hopping -.-
Yesterday I woke up at 530am, so I've had a long day already. After work, came home, had a great get together with my cousins at starbucks, and then chinese dinner afterwards. Later that evening, my cuz Angie really wanted to go out to a bar. So we (Angie, Adam, and myself) headed out to Granville in downtown. First one we dropped by was Tonic. It was empty! (good thing there was no cover) The only 2 girls in there were angie and I lol!! So we immediately left. across the street was The Roxy. I paid cover for this one, and to all our surprise, it was 'Cowboy' theme night. Oh great. Now we were the only asians. We definitely didnt fit in. Everyone in the crowd was white (which isnt a problem), but they all wore cowboy hats and boots. Couple drinks later, we went on the search for a much younger/hip crowd. Plaza was closed. The Celtics was closed (used to be SkyBar). How about The Commodore Ballroom? Oh lucky us! A punk rock concert had just ended, and a bunch of goth kids were exiting the building. That was it. we were calling it a night.. Oh wait! one more place suggested by Ed. Apparently they have refurnished/renovated the Earl's locations in downtown. Has a mini dance floor. Great place for drinks! so on we went. Lucky us, they just closed as well.
Note to self: Do not go to clubs/bars on Sunday Nights. Just not our cup of tea.

Alaskan Cruise
Woot! Roger and I booked an Alaskan Cruise! We're soo excited. This will be our first cruise. We figured Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines was the best choice for our age range. Even though its considered a Family oriented cruise line, its nowhere near as bad as being stuck on Holland American with several hundred 'Golden Years'. Nor is it as bad as what I've heard from Carnival Cruises which have dirty old ships with poor customer service. So I think we made the right choice.
Our ship "Serenade of the Seas" is a fairly young one. She was built in Aug 2003, plus apparently all RCCL's stateroom bedding will be changed for new mattresses and covers in 2007. We leave on May 12th. Pretty soon if you ask me! Our itenerant takes us on a roundtrip out of Vancouver. We'll make a stop in Sitka before viewing the Hubbard Glacier which is supposedly one of the better glaciers out of the many other ones offered with different iteneraries. On the way back, we stop in Skagway, then Juneau.
There are quite a few shore excursions. But the good ones are in Juneau and it will cost me an arm and a leg. At first I really wanted to go 'Mushing' on a dog sled (I think thats how you say it) on a glacier!! But that cost over $400/person. The reason it is so expensive is because a Helicopter ride is included in order to transport you to the site on top of the glacier. There's another excursion which Roger and I are pretty excited about (and most likely will cut our arms and legs off to try this). This one would also be a Helicopter ride to a Glacier, where we get to hike on the glacier. There are 3 different levels. 1hr (walkabout. fairly flat terrain), the 2hr hike (i think we're doing this. rolling terrain), and the 4hr hike (which includes a glacier climb). The Glacier climb would definitely be a highlight of the trip, but I'm afraid Raa and I do not have the endurance to do this hike.
One excursion that sounds scrumptious is the Salmon Bake which was recommended to me by the Travel Agent I dealt with. All you can eat Salmon that is bbq'd a unique way over wood fire? or something like that. I havent figured out what else we're going to do for the remainder of our time in Skagway. Maybe just save money, and enjoy our time on the ship lol :D
Cant wait!
